Amy Porterfield on Social Curator
Of course, she was, she’s fixing to launch, her slimy marketing course.
BTW the cost of Digital Course Academy is at least $2,000 plus extras like her slide-by-slide presentation which is another $300. Then after that 12 weeks is up she has a FOMO offer to join her group coaching for another $97 per month. (Get ready to shell out the dough)!
Amy was in the Social Curator Community today and I took notes for you! She was discussing email list-building tips.
If you know me you know I cannot stand Amy and her bro-marketing techniques. Today was no different. I rolled my eyes so many times during this course that I could hear them roll!! 🙄
🌟 Unlock your peak performance! Dive into our 'Finding Flow State' course and elevate your business and life. Real strategies from a 20+ year fitness and life coaching veteran. I hope to see YOU there! Kathie 😊
Insert eye-roll
You know what they say about eye-rolling right? Eye-rolling is a gesture used to express boredom, disbelief, or disdain. Yes, I was and am bored with Amy’s complete disregard for authenticity.
Before I get to the notes I took today I want to give you true, solid solutions to what Amy forces upon us as gospel.
Joseph Rodrigues. This is my mentor for so many reasons. He teaches from a place of flow. There is force and there is power. Watch my video on the levels of consciousness.
Joseph teaches from a place of power. He has a full line of courses for entrepreneurs and the total cost of his courses is $147. The material he teaches is invaluable. I seriously mean that.
He has taught me to run my business from a place of power - not force. And it has made a world of difference.
Don’t believe me? While working with Amy, I continued to “force” build my email list and stayed stuck at 97 subscribers.
Since changing my content to teach via power I have tripled that number and my open rates are 50-70%. What does that tell you?
I now easily produce content of value that attracts my ideal client to me like flies. I don’t have to force, or even wonder what to create. My clients tell me what they want to hear just because I prayed for this! I actually picture it in my DREAM BIG journal on Notion. It works wonders.
Now back to my eye roll friend Amy Porterfield.
She started off the session by saying that she loves us so much. WTF? Did she know I was there? Cuz that woman does not love me. No love lost there but can we say inauthentic off the bat?
Several times Amy looked off camera like someone was there asking a question. She gave them a look like “You better get out of here or I am going to beat you.” I am quite sure her team gets that look often. She seems like she could be very mean if she wanted to.
She said and I quote,
“Do you think of building your email list and feel overwhelmed, like it would be too much work, and time-consuming?”
Listing the pain points of her ideal clients and I get that. But she’s insulting our intelligence. This happens to be a big factor in bro-marketing.
I don’t feel overwhelmed, I also know it is not too much work, and that it definitely is not time-consuming.” Why? Because I work from a place of flow! Always!
Or I step away!
Five tips from Amy Porterfield
She gave us 5 tips and I will give them to you here. The last 2, maybe 3 are the only ones I would agree with.
AND she gave us nothing new. ABSOLUTELY nothing new!
DSD your email list. This means “do something different.” Okay, very vague and creates overwhelm in the new business owner IMO!!
My solution: Maybe do something new, find flow! Try the Pamodoro Technique or something….anything but more overwhelm!!
Always be list building - And then she says her boring eye-roll quote,
“If you’re multi-tasking come back to me.” 🙄
We are not children. And if you are in flow, I can tell you that multi-tasking is easy!!!
Then she says, “The most important time is when you are not launching.” Well, Amy, I don’t launch. She assumes everyone launches. This is quickly becoming an outdated marketing tool. I see so many launchers (and launch coaches) pivot or fall to the wayside.
“Always be list building.” Amy’s Motto.
No, I completely disagree - always create valuable content and I will touch on this in a moment.
She says, “I have 100s of 1000s of new leads on my email list each week” Good for you Amy! 🙄
3. Create an invisible bridge (she said “irresistible” - one of her Freudian slips). Amy says,
“Discover the invisible bridge your ideal client must cross to get from where are now to where they need to be for them to feel ready to enroll in your service or program. Your freebie starts where they are now and moves them to where you want them to be. What does your ideal client need to know, understand, or believe, in order to be in the perfect position to enroll in your service or program?”
This makes sense. I realized this when I wanted to teach fitness. I realized that I needed to coach on habits because if I can get my client to create a habit then and only then can I teach them all the great fitness stuff I have in my head.
The HOT Habit Checklist was born. But that actually came from working with Joseph. I had this ah-ha moment while listening to his podcast.
And he never mentioned the word “freebie” or “lead magnet.” Both of these are outdated marketing terms IMO! They are not kind terms and actually insult your client’s intelligence. Think about that for a minute. 🤔
She said “here are 4 questions to ask when creating your lead magnet.” (her words not mine)
*What are the 3 questions you’re constantly asked?
*What are your audience’s biggest pain points?
*What content would be so valuable that your ideal customer would say, “I can’t believe it’s free.
*Where can I start the conversation? What type of freebie would be easy to talk about?
I’m still not sold on Amy Porterfield. Can you tell? 🤣
4. Create something new weekly -And she says again, “If you’re multitasking come back to me.” Are you sure Amy? eye roll!!
She says to create something new weekly for 2 reasons:
*You are attracting a new audience
*You are nurturing the audience you already have.
Now with these points, she is correct. I can tell you that being consistent is key. Creating new valuable weekly content is key.
But let's add the words evergreen content. Evergreen being: YouTube video, podcast episode, or blog post.
Social media is NOT evergreen. You never hear Amy mention evergreen.
She then brags about herself. “I’m known as someone who creates and markets digital courses.” Yes, you are Amy, don’t forget bro-marketer too.
5. Mail your list weekly. Build a relationship with them weekly. Tell stories. Jasmine is the best storyteller. eye roll! (more on this in a minute)
Amy says, “Keep a swipe file of great emails. Play around with length. But Amy I only have 20 people, make your mistakes now, and not a lot will notice. Quit talking about it and begin doing it.”
Amy kept looking to the side - distracted.
Of course, she said this, “Go get my list-building course.”
Let me add, get ready to go on a high dollar chasing your dreams Amy’s way by being on her list.

Amy’s Q&A
So they had a Q&A session at the end. Amy mentioned something like adding a video that looks like a gif (she didn’t use those words) to your email. You can get this cute little addition at BombBomb.com. Yeah for $33 per month and that’s on top of your email provider! 😯🙄
Did you know that MailerLite automatically does this to any video you attach to your email? Did I mention that MailerLite is free? And less than $10 per month for 1,000 subscribers.
Oh my, I am pissed! Sorry but I am! 😡
I love Social Curator. But Amy and Jasmine (the CEO of Social Curator) are best friends.
